The First Calvin College Department of Nursing Pinning Ceremony

Calvin Pins first GraduatesMay 21, 2004 marked pinning day for the first class of the new Calvin College Department of Nursing. This class had the honor and responsibility of making decisions about the pin that will be worn by present and future graduates of the program. The class members and faculty had input in the design, colors, symbols, language, and layout of their nursing pin. Receiving the pins was the culmination of the ceremony, held in the Fine Arts Auditorium. [more...]



Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship (CCCS) Supports the Development of Transforming Care: A Christian Vision of Nursing Practice

Mary Molewyk Doornbos and Mary Flikkema The Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship (CCCS) awarded a three year grant to an interdisciplinary group of eight Calvin faculty members and one international partner to write a book tentatively entitled Transforming Care: A Christian Vision of Nursing Practice. The book explores the theological basis for the practice of nursing as well as defining the foundational concepts of person, health, environment, nursing, care and justice from a distinctly Christian vantage point.
