Stephanie Wiltse Named to AGEHR Board of Directors

The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR) is pleased to announce that Stephanie Wiltse has been named to the association’s board of directors.

Stephanie WiltseStephanie Wiltse has been ringing handbells since 1983 and directing handbells since 1992. In 1995, Wiltse was a founder of the community group Embellish, and became its Music Director in 1999. In addition to Embellish, she currently directs adult handbell groups at LaGrave CRC and Trinity UMC, and student handbell ensembles at Aquinas College and Calvin College in Grand Rapids. Wiltse has chaired the Grand Rapids District of the AGEHR, organizing local handbell events and providing networking, leadership and advice for local handbell directors. Wiltse has served on several strategic planning, worship and search committees at her church and has been a lay member of the United Methodist Annual Conference for the past 10 years. She has served as secretary of the Grand Rapids Bach Festival Board since its inception, and currently serves as Acting President. And, Wiltse is secretary of the St. Cecilia Music Center Artistic Advisory Committee, which chooses the performing artists for St. Cecelia’s yearly jazz, classical and Great Artist series.

The American Guild of English Handbell Ringers (AGEHR) was founded in 1954 in Ipswich, Massachusetts. It is a non-profit association dedicated to advancing the art of handbell and handchime ringing through education, community, and communication. Its membership of nearly 7,000 individuals and organizations represents over 100,000 handbell musicians, composers, arrangers, directors, music educators, and businesses primarily in the United States.
