Biographical Information
Phillip M. Hash holds an Ed. D. in music education from the University of Illinois, a M.M. in wind conducting from Northwestern University, and a B.M. in music education from Millikin University. Phillip’s professional affiliations include MENC: The National Association for Music Education, and the National Band Association. He has published articles in Update, Applications of Research in Music Education, the Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society, Research and Issues in Music Education, Contributions to Music Education, and the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education. Phillip taught instrumental music in northern Illinois for 14 years and served as choir director at the Christian Reformed Church of Western Springs from 1994-2004. He has also published instrumental arrangements with Grand Mesa Music, BRS Publications, and Daehn Publications. Phillip has served as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the Chicago area, and is a recipient of the National Band Association Citation of Excellence (2000, 2004) and the Outstanding Chicagoland Music Educator Award (2001). Bands under his direction have performed at numerous events including the University of Illinois Superstate Concert Band Festival and the Illinois Music Educators Association All-State Conference.
