Concerto Competion
The Calvin College Orchestra conducts an annual Concerto Competition. Each year, sophomores, juniors, or seniors may compete with works from vocal, string, wind, piano and brass literature. Judges from outside the Calvin music faculty serve as adjudicators and all performers are judged on a point system measuring aspects of technique, musicianship and performance rapport. Those with the highest points are selected regardless of their performance medium. The number of winners is variable.
