- First rehearsal is Monday, September 21st – 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. (Please note that the rehearsals will be held in the Calvin College Chapel.)
- Messiah performance will be at the DeVos Performance Hall on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 – 7:30 p.m. Please share this information with your friends, relatives, neighbors, etc.
- Our Spring Oratorio will be held at Orchard Hill Reformed Church (1465 3 Mile Rd. NW, Grand Rapids, MI) on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 8:00 p.m.
General Information
The following information is to let you know what is expected of you as a member of the chorus.
- Rehearsal Time: Rehearsals are 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. every Monday evening (until 10:00 closer to the performances, please see schedule). Please arrive 5 – 10 minutes early so that we can be seated and ready to sing at 7:30 sharp.
- Bring your scores & a pencil: Please bring your scores and a pencil to each rehearsal. Scores can be purchased at the table at the back of the Chapel. Messiah score is $10.00. Everyone must have his or her own score.
- Robes: All community members (non-student members) must purchase a robe. Students members with be able to borrow a robe for the performances, but they may purchase their own if they choose to. (students will be charges for robes that are not returned) Robes must be ordered through Vicki VanWingerden no later than October 5, 2009. The price for the robe is $25.00.
- Record your attendance: After the first week a membership roster will be on the table outside at the back of the chapel, please put a line through your name when you arrive each week. This is our method of recording your attendance.
- Absences: If you are unable to attend a rehearsal, you must fill out an excuse form or call Vicki VanWingerden at 526-6360 and leave a message on her voicemail, giving the date and reason for your absence. Only two excused absences per semester are allowed. No unexcused absences are allowed. All exceptions to this must be made with the conductor’s approval.
- Performances: Our Messiah performances will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the DeVos Performance Hall (downtown Grand Rapids). Our spring performance of Haydn’s Creation will be on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Orchard Hills Reformed Church (1465 3 Mile Rd NW, Grand Rapids).
