About
The Calvin College Gospel Choir, directed by Dr. Charsie Sawyer, performs at the annual Fall Music Festival, and presents its own concerts in November and April. Members of the Gospel Choir toured and studied in Ghana during the 2003 Interim and in 2007 took a spring break tour to California. In 2006, the Gospel Choir released its first DVD recording- Resurrection Praise, which is available through the Calvin Campus Store.
The choir's mission is to proclaim the word of God in song, as members fellowship with one another. While fulfilling this mission, the choir will represent Calvin College and its varied worship styles in a diverse, Christian manner. The Calvin College Gospel Choir will also provide a forum in which gospel musicians are able to transcend cultural differences, uniting all believers for a common purpose.
The Calvin College Gospel Choir is open to all students, staff, faculty, and alumni of Calvin College. In addition, the Calvin College Gospel Ensemble is a smaller group made up of members of the choir who are chosen by the director through an audition process.
The Gospel Choir rehearses on Tuesdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
