Tickets are required for this concert and are available at the Calvin College Box Office. Tickets are $8 for adults, $5 for students.

Everyone is invited to come and enjoy breakfast hosted by Calvin College Wind Ensemble. The event is designed to raise funds and awareness about the Wind Ensemble's upcoming international tour. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students, but other donations are encouraged and appreciated.

Composition Workshop: Might You Be a Composer?
10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. - CFAC 252 & Lab

On Saturday, October 22, music professor Dr. David Fuentes will host a workshop for high school students curious about pursuing composition as a serious hobby or vocation - "Might You be a Composer?" The workshop will cover a variety of topics about composition such as what composers need to possess, what composers need to learn, what composers might expect at college, and what young composers can do now. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their compositions with others. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. The workshop is free, but registration is required. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. David Fuentes.

Concert ProgramWelcome to the Calvin Music Festival, a collage style concert bringing together all eleven music department ensembles performing large masterworks. Arrive an hour early to hear solo and small chamber works performed in the Center Art Gallery and Recital Hall.

Tickets are required. Proceeds benefit Calvin College's music scholarship program. Tickets are available at the Calvin College Box Office - $15 for adults and $5 for students.

Calvin & Community: High School Honor Band Festival Concert

Concert ProgramThe High School Honor Band Festival is a day long event for area instrumentalists. The festival is an opportunity for students to interact, learn from, and perform with members of the Calvin College Wind Ensemble under the direction of a guest conductor Dr. Matthew George. Dr. George is the Director of Bands at the University of St. Thomas.

This performance is open to the public. Admission is free; tickets are not required.

Calvin & Community: High School Orchestra Festival Concert

Raymond HarveyView Concert ProgramThe High School Honor Orchestra Festival is a day-long string orchestra festival where students from three area schools come together to learn, grow, and strengthen their skills as musicians. Raymond Harvey will be the featured guest conductor and clinician in residence during the 2011 High School Orchestra Festival and will conduct the performance on Wednesday, October 26 at 7 p.m.
This performance is open to the public. Admission is free; tickets are not required.

Chamber Music Series: Ensemble Montage
7:30 p.m. - Covenant Fine Arts Center Recital Hall

View Concert ProgramFormed in 1997, Ensemble Montage is dedicated to presenting kaleidoscopic combinations of chamber music ranging from the baroque trio sonata to music written by the group's very much alive member-composer Alexander Miller.  The group specializes in repertoire that mixes strings, woodwinds, and piano. The group expands and contracts as repertoire demands – they've added percussion, voice, trumpet, an extra viola, double bass, and even an accordion on occasion.

Admission is free; tickets are not required.

View Concert ProgramConsisting of high caliber Irish and international string players, the Irish Chamber Orchestra has gained a reputation as a vibrant, refreshing, and influential force on the classical and contemporary music scene. Pianist Leon Fleisher’s illustrious career has spanned 67 years and established him as one of the premier classical pianists in the world.  The program will include Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 96 in D. Major “The Miracle”, Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto (Left Hand), No. 4, Op. 53, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin’s Irish Work and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, Op. 92.

Student Rush Pass
Students of any age with a valid student ID can purchase a $5 Student Rush Pass one hour prior to the performance at the Calvin College Box Office located in the west lobby of the Covenant Fine Arts Center. This offer is subject to availability. Student ID must be presented. Limit one ticket per student.
