The Symphonic Band, under the direction of Tiffany Engle, will present their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. The concert will be held at in the Covenant Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Admission is free; no tickets are required.

Student Preview Concert with John Nelson, guest conductor

This is a special event concert for area middle school and high school musicians. Guest Composer Peter Bannister will give a brief pre-concert talk before Maestro John Nelson and the Calvin College Orchestra, Capella and Campus Choir take the stage. The performance will include Brahms' Requiem and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms . The evening will feature guest soloists Marth Guth, soprano and Gerard Sundberg, baritone.
This is an exclusive event for choral and instrumental ensembles only. If you are ensemble director and would like to arrange for your ensemble to attend this FREE event, please contact Heather Rodgers to make arrangements. Tickets will be issued to attendees and must be presented at the door.

Don't miss this spectcular evening which will close out the 2010-11 season. Conductor John Nelson has conducted in virtually every major city throughout the world and produced several recordings, one resulting in a Grammy Award. The Season Finale concert will feature the Calvin Orchestra, Capella, and Campus Choir with special guest soloists Martha Guth, soprano, and Gerard Sundberg, baritone, under the direction of guest conductor, John Nelson. Repertoire for the performance will include the Brahms' Requiem, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms as well as the world premiere of Psalm 96 composed by Peter Bannister.
John Nelson will conduct at Calvin College as part of the Artist Series on Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m. in the Auditorium.

Student Rush Pass
If you are a student with a valid student ID, you can purchase a ticket for $5 one hour prior to the performance at the Calvin College Box Office located in the west lobby of the Covenant Fine Arts Center. This offer is subject to availability. Student ID must be presented.

Enter into the beauty of an evening filled with glorious music sung by the nationally recognized Calvin Alumni Choir presented in the incredible Cathedral of St. Andrew. This performance will be presented on Saturday, May 14 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the Calvin College Box Office.

The Rockford Community Concert Band, under the direction of Tiffany Engle, will present a concert titled "Medleys and Marches". The concert will feature a variety of American, British, and Spanish marches, plus medleys from West Side Story, patriotic selections and popular music (including the music of Gershwin). The performance will also feature Nicholas Valenziano, clarinet, in an Artie Shaw tribute. Admission is free; tickets are not required.
