Financial Aid and Scholarships

Calvin offers two types of financial aid for graduate students:

1. Assistance from state or federal agencies for graduate education. For details on these funds, contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid by phone, 616-526-6134, or e-mail.

2. Designated scholarships that support graduate education at the college--named scholarships offered by Calvin College:

3. Scholarships offered by other organizations:

  • Dorothy J. Thurston Scholarship
  • Guy D. and Mary Edith Halladay Graduate Scholarship
  • Roy Johnson Trusts
  • Others
Many organizations and institutions, both public and private, offer funding for graduate students. A discerning search on the Internet may provide sources, as well as checking with various foundations and organizations in your own area. Having no official connection to particular schools, these sources of assistance depend upon the student taking the initiative for contacting and applying for the funds.

Tuition waivers for students from developing countries

Calvin provides two full tuition waivers each year to students from developing countries. Students must still qualify for an I-20 form from the US State Department, which requires that students demonstrate that they have sufficient funds available for a round-trip ticket from their home to Grand Rapids, and that they have the means to support themselves while in the United States (including their room, board, books, and incidental expenses).
