Wallace Bratt and Barbara Carvill German Scholarship

The Wallace Bratt and Barbara Carvill German Scholarship is a one-time $2,500 award given to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, dedication to the German language, engaged participation in the German learning community at Calvin College, and an interest in using the language in the professional realm. This scholarship was established by two former German majors who were profoundly influenced and encouraged by Dr. Wallace Bratt and Dr. Barbara Carvill, emeritus professors of the German program. Both donors are business people whose careers have involved companies based in Germany. They thankfully attribute their success to these two professors who took a keen interest in them and encouraged them to pursue their German studies and work that would make use of their language skills. To qualify, students must complete an application for the Wallace Bratt and Barbara Carvill German Scholarship. To receive the award, students must have a GPA of 3.0+ in German; be pursuing a German major or a German minor with a major in business, math, science, or engineering; and be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year. Preference may be given to students with financial need or those from over 500 miles from Calvin’s campus. For more information, contact the German department or Calvin's financial aid department.

Wallace and Marianne Bratt German Interim Abroad scholarship

The Wallace and Marianne Bratt German Interim Abroad (GIA) Scholarship is an award given to students who demonstrate high academic achievement, a commitment to German language and culture learning, and engaged participation in the German learning community at Calvin College. This scholarship was established to help facilitate participation on the GIA for worthy students with promise, seriousness of purpose, and demonstrated need. To qualify, students must complete an application for the Wallace and Marianne Bratt German Interim Abroad Scholarship. To receive the award, students should have a GPA of 3.0+, be eligible for the GIA, and should be entering their sophomore, junior or senior year. Education scholarships (Education majors with a German focus)

Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship

The Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship is a one-time $700 award given to students who either demonstrate high academic achievement or are actively involved in their school or community. After successfully completing the application process and securing the award, students become full representatives of the Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship. The Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship can be used to cover room and board expenses, though the Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship is typically used to cover a student's tuition. Recipients of the Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship have the opportunity to decide where the funds are allocated. To qualify, students must fill out an application for the Lori Powell Central Ohio Scholarship. To receive the award, students must have a GPA of 3.0+, be resident of Central Ohio, and be pursuing an elementary or secondary education program. Jennie and Sylvia Stielstra Scholarship

The Jennie and Sylvia Stielstra Scholarship is a one-time $2800 award given to students who demonstrate high academic achievement and heavy involvement in their school or community. While the Jennie and Sylvia Stielstra Scholarship is typically used to fund a student's tuition, it can also be used to cover books or room and board. In order to qualify for the Jennie and Sylvia Stielstra Scholarship, students must fill out an application.To receive the award, students must show that they have the intention of serving in either elementary education or missions; preference may be given to children of missionaries or those with financial need. Brian E. Dyk Memorial Education Scholarship

The Brian E. Dyk Memorial Education Scholarship is a one-time $1500 award given to students who demonstrate high academic achievement and heavy involvement in their school or community. Students can use funds to pay for tuition, room and board, books, or other school-related costs. In order to be considered for the Brian E. Dyk Memorial Education Scholarship, applying students must show that they are majoring in education. First preference goes to graduates of West Side Christian School in Grand Rapids, MI.
