German Chapel
Once a week students and faculty of the German department meet for chapel in the Meditation Room of the Calvin College chapel building. We sing in German, pray in German and listen in German to a short meditation given by professors, students, or friends of the department.

Deutscher Abendtisch
The German language assistant conducts a weekly Deutscher Abendtisch, where students can eat and speak German while eating good American food.

Deutscher Filmabend
Four to five times per semester, the German assistant organizes a Deutscher Filmabend, where you can watch famous German feature films.

Nikolausabend
In December, a genuine German Nikolaus surprises students and faculty of the German department and showers us with wonderful gifts and even more wonderful poems.

Breakfast for graduating Majors and Minors in German
During the last week of the spring semester, all graduating majors and minors are invited to a gemütliches Frühstück in one of the professors' homes. We eat, talk about future plans, exchange memories, and celebrate the good times in the department.
