Background
A native of Germany, I took my degrees at the universities of Freiburg and Hamburg in the Federal Republic, at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois and at the University of Toronto. I taught French at Trinity College, Deerfield, Illinois, Latin, French and German at the Toronto District Christian High School and have been teaching German at Calvin College since 1978. I am a curriculum consultant for The English Language Institute (ELI) and have served as the president of the North American Christian Foreign Language Association (NACFLA).
