German Elementary And Secondary Education Major
Note: German education majors must participate in an abroad experience in a German speaking country. The German interim abroad can meet this requirement, though, a semester abroad program or summer work or apprenticeship program are highly recommended.

Certification
Students in teacher education must pass the test administered by the State of Michigan. They must also pass a departmental German proficiency examination prior to the teaching internship and an Oral Proficiency Interview. A rating of Advanced - Low on the ACTFL Proficiency Scale constitutes the minimum required level of proficiency. For details and for information on cost and scheduling see the chairperson.
