GEOL 230 Field Trip - La Farge Limestone Quarry & Alpena Shipwreck Museum

Over the weekend of September 30 - October 1, the GEOL 230 class (titled "Pre-History of Life, Earth, and Humanity") set out on an adventure to explore Alpena, Michigan and Thunder Bay on the Lake Huron waterfront.

A happy combination of GEO majors, archaeology minors, education students, and humanities majors were exposed to fossil collecting in a Devonian reef system, observing cement making through plants crushed in limestone, and wading through the history and artifacts collected from shipwrecks in Thunder Bay.
