Soil temperature probes are buried in the sand
to measure ground temperature at 6 depths (0 cm, 3 cm, 6 cm, 12
cm, 25 cm and 50 cm).
The soil temperature
measurements at different depths are used to identify the presence
and depth of ground freezing in the winter. |

Wind
erosion exposed the top soil temperature probe and partially-exposed
the probe at 3-cm depth.
