Erosion pins are metal or wooden pins or stakes placed in the ground
as reference markers for measuring erosion or deposition. Surface
change is measured by recording the length of the pin above the
ground on sequential visits to the site.

Melinda's hand rests on the top of a post installed
to monitor deposition on an advancing slipface. A newly installed
post appears in the foreground.
