Coastal dunes are dynamic landforms—they grow, erode, change
shape and move across the landscape as wind interacts with the dune
environment. The section on Processes
describes the basics of how wind shapes dunes and gives examples
of how various Lake Michigan coastal dunes are changing.
The section on Research
describes the studies and methods that have been used to measure
sand movement and dune change. Ongoing studies at P.J.
