A parabolic dune may also become partly or wholly stabilized by vegetation,
which protects dune surfaces from wind erosion. Blowouts or smaller
dunes that form on large parabolic dunes indicate local areas of dune
activity.

dune, wind moves through a series of blowouts surrounded by vegetated
dune areas.
