Lake Michigan coastal dunes exist in a variety of shapes and sizes.
Examples of many different
dune types are found in P.J. Hoffmaster State Park. Hoffmaster does
not have perched dunes and dune-and-swale complexes which occur
elsewhere on the Lake Michigan coast.
The descriptions of
dune types will help you identify the Lake Michigan dunes you see.
Look for interesting features, such as wind circles, when you are
at the dunes.
