Issue #15 (April 2, 2008)
Greetings from the Festival of Faith and Writing at Calvin College! Although we usually send out our Festival News updates just once a month (on the 15th), we want to keep you posted on all the latest Festival happenings in these remaining days leading up to the big event! We'll send one last e-mail next week with details about transportation, parking, meals, and more.- The latest Festival schedule is now posted on our website. We hope it helps you in your planning for the Festival. Remember that your Festival registration gets you into every Festival session, with the exception of the Caedmon's Call concert on Thursday, the Iron and Wine concert on Saturday (sold out), and the evening performances of The Women of Lockerbie. For those events, tickets are required and can be purchased, pending availability, through the Calvin Box Office: 616.526.6282.
- The deadline for pre-ordering boxed meals is Monday, April 7. The online order forms (both pay by check and pay by credit card) are available.
- Registration for Festival Circles closes on Friday, April 4. Note that two of the circles (memoir and creative non-fiction) have reached capacity and are closed. If you've registered for a circle, you are encouraged to purchase boxed meals for those meeting times (Thursday dinner and Friday lunch). You will hear from your circle leader next week.
- With the exception of the Francine Rivers lecture on Thursday evening, our evening lectures (Michael Chabon, Yann Martel, and Katherine Paterson) will be held off-campus at Sunshine Community Church, about seven miles north of Calvin. We will be providing shuttle buses to the church for Festival attendees. Buses will begin leaving from the Prince Center at 6:45 p.m. and will continue running until 7:15 p.m. They will also bring attendees back to campus (or to their hotels) after the lectures.
