James Preller

Pamela Munoz RyanNationally-known writer, James Preller, is the keynote speaker for students in grades four through six. Preller is the author of more than eighty books for children, including the popular Jigsaw Jones mystery series. His book, Bystander, explores the complex issue of bullying—a topic very prevalent in schools today. In Bystander, Preller's characters struggle with the complicated and often-conflicting instincts to fit in, find friends, and do the right thing. His other books include Along Came Spider, Justin Fisher Declares War, and Six Innings, an ALA Notable Book. Preller also writes picture books, and his first young adult novel was published in 2012.

Michael P. SpradlinE. B. Lewis is an illustrator of over forty children’s books. His artwork has brought visual beauty to several inspiring stories including Stars Above Us, Homegrown House, I Want to Be Free, and The Negro Speaks of Rivers. Lewis received the Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award for Talkin’About Bessie: The Story of Aviator Elizabeth Coleman. He was awarded the Coretta Scott King Honor for his artwork in My Rows and Piles of Coins and Bat Boy and His Violin. Lewis is also a recipient of the Caldecott Honor for his illustrations in Coming on Home Soon. Other award-winning books illustrated by Lewis include The Other Side, a Notable Book for the Language Arts, and Down the Road, an ALA Notable Book. His stunning artwork brings life to the stories and characters that he illustrates. Lewis currently teaches at the University of Arts in Philadelphia.
