The English department is currently housed in the so-called "surge building" on the east side of the East Beltline. We moved into these temporary quarters in June 2009 and will stay here for at least a year while the Fine Arts Center receives a major renovation.
How to get to us
The surge building is a low, brown brick building that sits between the East Beltline and the Ecosystem Preserve, at the very end of the parking lot for the nature preserve and Youngsma Center.
From the main campus
- Pass under the East Beltline near the Fine Arts Center.
- Turn left, toward the Ecosystem Preserve and Youngsma Center, both of which will appear on your right.
- Keep going straight down the length of the parking lot. Stop before hitting the surge building.
- Enter the building beneath the green awning.
From northbound East Beltline
- Pass under Calvin's Crossing, the large covered bridge.
- Pass the off ramp for Calvin College
- The next opportunity to leave the East Beltline on the right, pictured below, will lead you into the parking lot immediately in front of the surge building.
- Enter the building beneath the green awning.
