Carlos Eire
Carlos Eire was born and raised in Cuba. His most recent book, Waiting for Snow in Havana, which won the National Book Award in nonfiction in 2003, recalls his boyhood during the Cuban Revolution. Eire has also authored War Against the Idols: The Reformation of Worship from Erasmus to Calvin (1986) and From Madrid to Purgatory: The Art and Craft of Dying in Sixteenth-Century Spain (1995). Currently, Eire is writing a survey of the Reformation and researching the history of “miraculous happenings” in seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Europe. He is a professor of history and religious studies at Yale University.
