Kate DiCamillo
Florida-raised Kate DiCamillo wrote her first young-adult novel, Because of Winn-Dixie, while experiencing her first Minnesota winter. Since then, she has written over ten books, including The Tale of Despereaux, which won the Newbery Medal in 2004. Her next book, The Magician’s Elephant, is due to be released in September.
