Scott Cairns
Scott Cairns is professor of English and director of creative writing at the University of Missouri. His poems and essays have appeared in Poetry, Image, Paris Review, Atlantic Monthly, and The New Republic. His most recent poetry collection is Compass of Affection. Other recent books include his spiritual memoir, Short Trip to the Edge, and a book-length essay, The End of Suffering. He received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006 and currently serves as the Catherine Paine Middlebush Chair in English at the University of Missouri.
