Professor Timmerman received his undergraduate education at Calvin College, graduating in 1968. He went on the receive both his MA (1971) and his PhD (1973) at Ohio University.

Recent Activities
Professor Timmerman is a prolific author, penning more than 15 books in the course of his career. The most recent, Woman, Why Are You Weeping?: Daily Meditations for Lent and Light of the World: Daily Meditations for Advent, are devotional books published by Liguori Press in 2007. Others include books on writers Robert Frost, Jane Kenyon, T.S. Eliot, John Steinbeck and Frederick Manfred, and Christian classics such as A Season of Suffering (1988), The Way of Christian Living (1991), Valley of the Shadow (1994) and Out of the these Ashes (1995). Professor Timmerman's recent publications include short fiction and creative non-fiction in Rockhurst Review, Beloit Fiction Journal, Weber Review, and Coe Review.
