Prospective Student Resources: Transfer Information

Is your virtual memory too low? Come to Calvin and have it rejuvenated in the Engineering Program!

Transfer Information

The engineering program can be complex. All Engineering programs are sequencial in nature. Meaning students cannot take Calculus II until they have taken Calculus I, or you cannont take Physics 235 until they have taken Phys 186. Another reason is that some courses are only offered in the fall while others are only offered in the Spring. Another requirment of the Calvin Engineering program is that all courses are Calculus based. Therefore be careful to register for Chemistry and Phyiscs classes that are Calculus based. Algebra based classes will not transfer to Calvin.

Transfer students should never assume that two years at another school will transfer as two full years and leave only two years at Calvin. The odds of that are actually quite rare. With the proper planning students are more likely to transfer in enough credits to complete an engineering degree from Calvin in three years to three and a half years.

Students intrested in transfering to Calvin should submit copies of their transcripts AND course syllbus to the Engineering Department Chair for review. This can be done by e-mail engineering@calvin.edu or by working through the Registrar's office. Please allow for a minimum of two weeks for the evaluation to be complete.
