Two altenatives have been designed

  • Culvert with Bituminous Path
    • Designed for 25 year storm
    • Final Design:
    • Box Culvert in Channel: 10' x 6'
    • Box Culvert on Flood Plain: 6' x 3'
  • Bridge
    • Steel Frame with Wood Decking
    • Cedar wood
    • 8 feet wide
    • 65 foot span
    • Pre-Engineered
    • 4' railings
    • Benches

Both designs require a path to connect the crossing to Little Heron Ct SE

  • Must account for elevation drop in safe manner
  • Must meet ADA standards
    • 1:12 slope
    • One 5' x 5' landing per every 30 inch rise
    • Handrails when steeper than 1:20
  • Bituminous
  • 6 feet wide
  • 1% cross slope to allow for runoff
  • ADA compliant handrails
  • Backfill
  • Gravity stone retaining walls

 

The Team presented their results to Woodlawn Church, The Calvin Physical Plant, and the Holland Home. All three parties expressed interest and were given plans for the design.
