Visiting Haworth
March 2005

The side panel material was one of the final, and biggest, decisions made. We went to Haworth and picked up plastic side-panels. One of the volunteers from Hudsonville CRC, Tom Ysseldyke, used a CNC machine to cut grooves in the plastic. However, upon testing the plastic, it was determined to be too weak for our application. Thicker plastic could have been used, but the price of the thicker plastic was $400 for a 4X8 sheet. We decided to go back to wood panels. Dan Schrik's dad, with Lorik Tool, cut side panels out of birch wood for the final prototype.
