North Sea Dunes & Lake Haarlem

The barrier dunes along the North Sea coast provide protection from flooding from the sea as well as filtration beds for water used in the city of Amsterdam.  The beginning of this excursion starts with a trip through the bulb growing area behind the dunes. It is followed by a visit to the facility used to filter drinking water for the city of Amsterdam. We then continue on with an excursion through the Lake Haarlem reclamation beggining with a visit to the Cruquius Steam Pumping Museum.
