I. Chairperson Joan Gosink reported that ABET has approved the ASEE as the lead society for accreditation of EAC Programs in engineering (without modifiers), engineering physics, and engineering science(s), and for TAC Programs in engineering technology (without modifiers).

II. Gosink reported that the ASEE has approved divisional status of the multidisciplinary engineering constituent committee, which will now be called the Multidisciplinary Engineering Division.

III. Gosink reported officer ballot results. For 2005 and 2006 the elected officers are:
a. Chair: Jim Farison of Baylor University.
b. Vice Chair: Steven H. VanderLeest, Calvin College
c. Secretary/Treasurer: Catherine Skokan, Colorado School of Mines

IV. Gosink and Farison indicated that ABET program evaluators will be needed starting in 2006-7. There are about 65 EAC programs in engineering (without modifiers), engineering physics, and engineering science(s), and TAC Programs in engineering technology (without modifiers). This means around 12 programs per year, so around 25 program evaluators are needed. There is some desire to have around half of these be faculty and half from industry. Members that are on the ASEE Accreditation Activities Committee (which is chaired by Ed Jones) were asked to advise that committee that persons already experienced as program evaluators as well as persons experienced with general engineering programs should be preferentially selected, particularly during the start-up of ASEE directed program evaluation. These members were also asked to request that committee to advise the Multidisciplinary Engineering Division if criteria changes are considered by ABET.

V. Gosink reported that we have $245 in division funds.

VI. Program session ideas were considered including accreditation of non-traditional programs, a brainstorming session, or a session on our identity and diversity.

VII. Jim Farison expressed thanks and appreciation on behalf of the division to outgoing chair Joan Gosink and to Fred Driscoll for serving on the nominating committee. Joan Gosink thanked Jim Farison for his fine work as program chair.

VIII. Meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully Submitted,

Steve VanderLeest
