Solar Thermal Snow Melt
This project uses the sun's radiation to melt snow during the cold winter months. We installed two solar collectors in order to heat a glycol/water loop. This loop is circulated through a heat exchanger, a solar storage tank, and finally a snow melt loop installed on the roof of DeVries Hall on Calvin's Campus. The following links describe the installation and display real time data of the system. The data on these web pages are generated by National Instruments LabVIEW software and FieldPoint data acquisition systems.
