Papers in keeping with the CEST objective are desired: "To investigate the scientific, technical and other aspects of technology and, in particular, specific technologies or applications of such technologies when there is a perceived benefit to ASA for such investigations. The objective would be to establish the morals and ethical aspects of such technologies so as to permit assessment from a Christian viewpoint on the desirability of such technologies." The symposium serves as a means of advertising for CEST, and a means to learn of the valuable thinking and experience of our Christian colleagues as we labor alongside eachother. Topics include, but are not limited to: - the impact of technologies on Christians/Christianity, - ethical and/or integrative issues faced by Christians in technology, - industrial ecology and green engineering, - engineering and public policy, - engineering and education, in private or secular institutions, - standards-setting, uniformity, public safety, review process... Submissions to the CEST symposium will be reviewed for appropriateness of topic and quality of scholarship. Papers should be based on work in your area of expertise; where this is not obvious you may be asked to provide suitable documentation. Authors need not be ASA members to present. While we expect mostly platform presentations (20 mins) posters are also welcome. Further information on the ASA meeting, as well as a program response form, are available on the ASA website at: http://www.asa3.org/ASA/Kansas2001/CalPap.html#Call for Papers Abstracts are due to the ASA office on 10 January. I hope many of you will submit abstracts and join us in Manhattan in July. We are anticipating a very high-quality meeting--come be a part of it! In His service, Ruth Douglas Miller President, CEST.
