ASA Theme Issue Call for PapersPerspectives on Science & Christian Faith (the journal of the American Scientific Affiliation), has issued a Call for Papers on the theme of "Responsible Technology and Issues of Faith" to be co-edited by Arie Leegwater and Jack C. Swearengen. They favor having a balance of theoretical-reflective articles, weighing normative principles which should guide sustainable technological development, with a number of case studies in which responsible technology is practiced. Submissions are due September 30, 2011..New Christian Engineering Links on CES Web siteCheck out the new links on the CES web site under Christian Engineering Links. We have now separated out links to organizations with a focus on humanitarian mission engineering projects. |
CEEC RegistrationThe Christian Engineering Education Conference (CEEC) will be held at Trinity Western University near Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada on June 29 to July 1 this year, immediately following the ASEE conference in Vancouver. We still need volunteers! The biggest need right now is for moderators and worship time participants (instruments and/or singers). If you would be willing, please email the general chair, Steve VanderLeest, svleest@calvin.edu. Conference registration is now open, with a deadline of May 20 (and we'd certainly appreciate them sooner than that). You can download a registration form from the CEEC website. Registration covers the conference, lodging, and meals. Costs range from $150 to $200 for a single, depending on what options you select. Lodging and meals for spouses and children are also available. Our local coordinator, Arnold Sikkema, will have some suggested activities in the vicinity of Trinity Western that families can check out if they wish. A few folks have asked about transportation. There is a regional bus option, but it involves a transfer and a fairly long ride. If enough people band together, a shuttle bus can be arranged either through Airport Link or Ridebooker. However, we need someone to coordinate. If you would be willing, please email the general chair, Steve VanderLeest, svleest@calvin.edu Our program is shaping up nicely. Here is a peak at the likely paper topics that will be presented:
