Christians in Engineering & Technology Announcements Newsletter July 2005 Contents: - Help with Christian Engineering Education Conference 2006 - Society of Christian Engineers at Oregon State - About this email distribution --------------------------------------------------------------------- Help with Christian Engineering Education Conference (CEEC) 2006 ================================================================= Mark your calendar for CEEC, June 21-23, 2006 in Chicago, Illinois. The Sixth Christian Engineering Education Conference (CEEC) is planned to immediately follow the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) conference (June 18-21). We will seek to deepen our insights and strengthen our collective outreach and witness as we engage in structured conversations about Christian engineering education and the engineering profession. The program will be a diverse mix of presented papers and panel discussions on a variety of topics relating Christian faith and engineering. If you would be willing to volunteer some of your time to help plan and organize the conference, or perhaps serve as a reviewer, please email the conference general chair, Steve VanderLeest, svleest@calvin.edu. If you have local contacts in the Chicago area that might be willing to help us find a conference site, please email Steve as well. Be sure to put CEEC on your calendar for June 21-23, 2006. We will start on Wednesday evening, June 21 and finish at lunch time on Friday, June 23. Society of Christian Engineers at Oregon State ============================================== The Society of Christian engineers is a student organization at Oregon State University. Our purpose is to help engineers to integrate faith and engineering in school and in profession. We seek to pursue this purpose through SERVICE, FELLOWSHIP, and CHRISTIAN THINKING. We hope to pursue this vision as a group because there are tasks that a group of Christian engineers can do that individual engineers cannot do. For instance, an individual engineer does not go to lunch and have fellowship with him/her self. An individual engineer does not write publications that promote Christian thinking in the engineering profession and then mail them to him/her self. Our short term goal is to reach the engineering college of Oregon State University and to help student to integrate their faith and their professional studies. This integration of faith is practically carried out through fellowship, witness, bible study, and events on campus such as speaker presentations. Our long term goal is to create a national organization that helps engineers integrate faith and engineering in school and profession. We hope to become a national organization as students graduate from OSU and take SCE with them to their new graduate program or to their new jobs. As the (mustard) seed of the idea of SCE is started in new universities and companies, that seed takes root and becomes a weekly meeting. That weekly meeting becomes a bible study and that bible study becomes a chapter of SCE in the company. The companies will eventually spread seeds of SCE around the local area and eventually will spread chapters of SCE around the state. This will continue to happen until, God willing, we become a national organization. All of this done to the glory of God. Visit our website to learn more about our organization. Email RichardLouie@yahoo.com for questions or to receive our information pamphlet. May God be glorified in the profession of engineering!
