[Posted 21 Oct 2008] Division Director - Liberal Arts and International Studies Colorado School of Mines has an exceptional opportunity for a scholar-educator to serve as Director of its Division of Liberal Arts and International Studies (LAIS) and invites applications and nominations. The new Director will advance and shape the critical role of humanities and social sciences within a top-rated technological university. LAIS (www.lais.mines.edu) is uniquely positioned to address the social and humanistic aspects of the grand challenges confronting global society in energy, natural resources, and the environment.

The successful candidate will be imaginative but pragmatic and have the vision, creativity, energy, and leadership to administer the Division as its chief academic and administrative officer. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in an appropriate discipline or interdisciplinary field. The successful applicant must also have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship and service, and national or international professional recognition that would merit appointment at the rank of Full Professor.
