Snow Melt
The purpose of installing the volume flow meter is to calculate the total heat transfer to the snow.
The volume flow rate is necessary in calculating the mass flow rate in the energy equation; the temperatures are known. Q=V*d*C*(T_i-T_o) will calculate the total heat transfer to the snow. The flow meter is powered through a 12 V source and provides a pulse of current to the field point module. This pulse is used to count the volumetric flow rate of the water/glycol mixture in the cold return.
