Engineering Department Growth
Team EnGrowth is designing an expansion to Calvin College's current Engineering Building in order to accommodate the program's projected growth. The number of freshmen enrolling in Calvin College's Engineering Department has grown substantially in the past few years, and the growth is expected to continue. Based on interviews with the department's faculty and staff, the most crucial areas that need additional space are the following: senior design projects, faculty research, classrooms, underclassmen design projects, and storage.
In creating both the architectural and structural designs for the expansion, EnGrowth has taken into consideration faculty and staff input as well as the current design of the Engineering Building and Calvin College's campus. Not only will the expansion ensure that future Engineering students have adequate space, but the expansion design will also integrate the Engineering Building into campus, creating a more unified feeling.
