On Saturday, 10 May 2014, the team presented a bass guitar that was capable of tuning itself following the user initiating the sequence and plucking the strings. The team also formally presented their results to a number of teachers, family, and friends.
The final prototype tunes a single string at a time. The sampling rate for the prototype is ~930 Hz. Because the code took 4096 samples in order to achieve a higher resolution, the sampling time reached about 4.5 seconds. The motors rotated a quarter turn at a time, and the motors were tracked with a homemade encoder system. The encoders are described on the design page.
