Senior Design Night
May 10, 2014
The Diesel Crew presented their finsihed biodiesel reactor.
The Diesel Crew, Team 1 of the 2013-14 school year, consists of four Calvin Engineering students all of the chemical concentration: Adam Alexander, Mike Lubben, Angus Richeson, and Tom Voss. Together, they designed and built a prototype biodiesel reactor system capable of providing clean, sustainable energy.
Adam Alexander will be graduating from Calvin College in May 2014 with two degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a chemical concentration and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. As a four year member of the Men's Varsity Swimming and Diving Team, Adam had the honor of being elected as team captain his senior year. After graduation, Adam plans to attend medical school and pursue a career in medicine with the hope of becoming an orthopedic surgeon.
Michael Lubben will be graduating with honors from Calvin College in May, 2014 with a double major: a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a chemical concentration and an American Chemical Society chemistry degree. Mike is a sports fanatic and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying intramurals, fishing, hunting, and camping. He also spends his time as a YoungLife leader and volunteering at Shawnee Park CRC, where he is a member. After graduation, Mike plans to attend graduate school for a PhD in Chemical Engineering.
Angus Richeson hails from the city of Oshkosh, WI, and will be graduating from Calvin in May 2014 with dual Bachelors of Science degrees in Engineering (chemical concentration) and Biochemistry. Angus enjoys following foreign relations in the news (thus far not in the familial sense, he notes), webcomics, backpacking or canoeing with the Boy Scouts, and Japanese animation. He expects to enter industry following graduation, and tentatively hopes to putter with senescence research some in his spare time.
Tom Voss grew up in Orland Park, IL and is studying the chemical engineering concentration as well as chemistry. He is anticipating graduating in May with Honors. He loves to play games and sports, and is known to be a bit of a competitor. As a fun fact, he recently acquired three brother in laws this past summer; a crazy wonderful time. After graduation Tom is anticipating the option for full time employment or furthering his studies in Graduate School.
