Panel Vibration Testing

Above is a picture of the Rebar Panel and vibration testing equipment during testing on April 9, 2012

A concrete panel reinforced with rebar and 2-layers of chicken wire mesh is in the process of being tested over a 3-week period. It was initially poured on April 2, 2012 and was tested first at the one week mark, April 9, 2012, and then again on April 16, 2012 to observe the natural frequency of damping within the panel. With the value of frequency, the team hopes to obtain a composite modulus of elasticity for the panel, allowing for more accurate calculations of the structural behaviour of the panel. A final data sample will be taken at the 4-week mark on April 30, 2012 and then broken as were previous panels to obtain a 4-week strength of one of our panels. Professor De Jong is providing assistance with this test and the proceeding calculations.
