Candidates who are certified with K-12 Cognitive Impairment or Learning Disabilities may need to meet additional requirements in order to teach core academic subjects in grades 6-12 in Michigan.

The Michigan Department of Education has developed a flowchart to help teachers determine if they are highly qualified for the grades and subjects which they are teaching or applying to teach.
