Special Education Program InformationProgram Requirements Checklist Core, Elementary, and Special Education Courses "Just as there are many parts to our bodies, so it is with Christ's body. We are all parts of it, and it takes every one of us to make it complete." Paul's analogy provides a foundation for Calvin's Special Education Program. We seek to deepen our understandings of the role of persons with disabilities within inclusive communities. Students in the Special Education program complete the Elementary Education Program with a special education major. Graduates earn K-5 teacher certification as a general education teacher and a K-12 endorsement to teach students with cognitive impairments. The Special Education Program requires two student teaching placements - one semester in a regular K-5 classroom and a second semester in a special education setting. Special education teachers are in demand throughout the United States. Calvin graduates in this field encounter less competition for excellent teaching positions.
