Michigan Student Teacher of the Year

Please join us in congratulating senior student, DeDe (Christine) Orlando who was recently recognized as the Michigan Student Teacher of the Year! DeDe completed one semester of student teaching in a second grade classroom at Discovery Elementary in Kentwood.

Majoring in Special Education, DeDe is now completing her second semester of student teaching at Hudsonville Park Elementary. This award recognizes DeDe's exceptional preparation, performance and ability to apply her knowledge to the elementary classroom. The Michigan Association of Teacher Educators (MATE) is in its 25th year of awarding this recognition to teacher interns who demonstrate exemplary teaching skills. Congratulations to DeDe and the many at Calvin who have contributed to her preparation!
