Technology and Teaching Education instructor Marj Terpstra's EDUC 302-303 technology assignments were featured in The Hoot, a blog designed for Calvin faculty members.

Teacher Quality Grant Dr. Jim Rooks and Dr. KaiLonnie Dunsmore, professors of education, have won a $200,000 State of Michigan Improving Teacher Quality Grant, their third consecutive grant since 2004. The duo will continue to provide development in English Language Arts to elementary school teachers from Buchanan, Potter's House and Calvin Christian, and will add middle school teachers from Grand Rapids Public Schools, Potter's House and Calvin Christian.

Learning to Read in Sierra Leone Dr. Jo Kuyvenhoven visits Sierra Leone each year to lead literacy workshops for teachers. Her book, The Crocodile's Reward, has been distributed to teachers throughout the country.

Faith Development Dr. Robert Keeley's new book aims to help the church nurture the spiritual development of children. This book may be ordered online.

Retirement Details Dr. LeRoy Stegink retired from the Education Department in May, 2007.

Educating for Shalomwas selected as the winner of the Lilly Fellows Program Book Award in September, 2006.

Teacher Quality Grant Dr. Jim Rooks has been awarded a grant of over $190,000 to support the Four Blocks Literacy Partnership.

Retirement Details Dr. Arden Post and Dr. Yvonne Van Ee retired from the Education Department in May, 2006.

Alumni Association Board Grants Drs. Debra Buursma, Rachel Reed, and KaiLonnie Dunsmore were awarded grants to support research projects related to their education courses.
