Faculty: Becky Haney

Assistant Professor of Economics

Becky Haney Professor Becky Haney has her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago with a specialization in Labor Economics. She also has a Master's of Divinity from Duke University and is interested in the economics of religious organizations and the interaction of faith and economic activity. Her previous positions include assistant professor in the Public Policy Institute of Duke University and Associate Director of Pulpit & Pew, a social scientific examination of congregations and pastoral leaders at the beginning of the 21st century. Her research interests include an examination of the theological and economic implications for the clergy labor market as well as comparing and contrasting the free market with the mission of Christian denominations. Her recent publication, "The Relationship Between Labor Market Structure and Clergy Compensation in Protestant Denominations" in the Atlantic Economic Journal, is the beginning of a line of inquiry that attempts to highlight the similarities and differences between the market and church mission.
