Experiential Learning

Allison Bultman at Ryan Marketing Group

This internship is great. I am so glad that I was placed in this position. The first weeks were kind of slow, but things quickly picked up. My boss is great! He offers us a lot by teaching us new things and also encouraging us to pick up on a challenge. He has also been a great help with helping us write up our resumes and trying to help us with job placements.

Todd Buys at Founders Bank

So far, it has been great. I am starting to think that banking as a carer is probably not for me. However, I would recommend it to anyone interested in business, finance, corporate finance, etc., because knowing about lending is important -- obtaining capital and financing a business is a very important part of running a business, working in finance, or owning your own business. The people there are really nice and have always been willing to help. So, yes, it has been good and I would recommend it.

Nate Funk at Visbeen Associates

The internship has been great. I am on a database project right now at the office that has taken the majority of my time, and is teaching me a lot about all of the materials and suppliers that Visbeen uses in their projects. A really cool thing just came up and I've decided to go for it. My boss offered me the opportunity to represent the firm at a seminar that will take place in Salt Lake City, Utah! Pretty amazing experience for an intern. I'm really excited to see what God does with opportunities like these that give me a feel for what I could be doing in the field someday. There is a good chance that I could be working for Visbeen through the summer also, especially since I have been accepted into a graduate school that doesn't start until the fall.

Marc Pitts at Fox TV

The internship at Fox TV has been fantastic. The guys are great down there and they are more than willing to help me build my resume tape. As a matter of fact, they are sending me with another guy over to Detroit to go to the Lions mini-camp and Tigers Opening Day game to help in getting interviews. This will give me stand-up opportunities. Once basketball season ended, I had many changes to bring an extra camera along and shoot games. I would definitely recommend this internship to someone else.

Jeremy Thompson at Ryan Marketing Group

Things are going great here. It has truly been an eye-opening experience for me. I was thinking that I would be in an internship that wouldn't allow me to really get my hands dirty with responsibility, but that is not the case here. Bill got us comfortable with his business as far as how it runs and what things to prioritize and then, as he promised, we are pretty much running operations. He took off for Atlanta last Sunday and he is gone for three weeks. So, we are trouble-shooting problems encountered in the telecommunications set-up for the NCAA. If we have any problems, he is only a phone call away, but we are realizing that he doesn't have a lot of time and we need to try to figure things out ourselves. Bill has also helped us write cover letters for job applications and has evaluated our resumes.

Tim Voss at Raymond James & Associates

You make it really easy to ask for help and find ways to get things done. My internship at Raymond James is going well. I'm learning a lot and I'm glad that I'm in this internship. I know it's not paid, but it is worth it. And this coming from a guy who said he would not take an unpaid internship. We have a list of knowledge items that my supervisor goes over, sort of like a class every day. Then the rest of the day I work on projects for the financial advisors. I'm having a good time.
