Volunteer Work Days
- Woody Species Removal Volunteer Workday
When: Saturday, September 10, 2011 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
Location: Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve (meet at the Bunker Interpretive Center)
After years of success with garlic mustard, West Michigan Cluster partners are coming together again to eradicate a few of the worst invasive woody plants in our region. From busting bittersweet to buckthorn, we will join forces to combat these invasive within our natural areas. Here at the Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve, we will be removing buckthorn. Work clothes, boots, and gloves are recommended. The rest of the materials will be provided. Please email us to let us know that you are planning on volunteering.

- BIC Fall Clean Up Volunteer Workday
When: Saturday, October 15, 2011 8:00 am to around noon
Location: Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve (meet at the Bunker Interpretive Center)
We need help preparing for winter and sprucing up the place. We will mostly be outside raking, weeding, cleaning equipment etc but there are several indoor projects that we need help with too. Tools will be provided just bring your own pair of work gloves if you desired them and wear clothes you do not mind getting dirty. We will work in light rain! Coffee, muffins, tea and a variety of other snacks will be available for your enjoyment. Email us to let us know if you plan on volunteering.
