October 21, 2013: Sleeping Coconuts: A story about Wycliffe Bible Translators in Papua New Guinea
In the late 1980s, John and Bonne Nystrom came alongside Pastor Peter and several other men from Arop village in Papua New Guinea to translate the Bible. Now, while visiting antoher part of the country just ten years later, tragedy struck. What had happened? Were their friends okay? What about the Bible translation team? Was this the end of Bible translation for Arop?
In Sleeping Coconuts, John and Bonnie Nystrom share their story of tragedy, teamwork and transformation, and the incredible way that God used a tsunami to change the face of Bible translation in Papua New Guinea.
There will also be a hands-on Bible translation demonstration.
This event is sponsored by Voice for Missions. Refreshments will be provided.
October 17, 2013: The Seminary Search
For a student who senses a call to Christian ministry as a full-time career, a seminary education after college is usually the next step. We’ll explain what “seminary” is all about, why a seminary education is the usual preparation for a career of Christian ministry, what graduate degree programs are options in seminary, and how different schools often vary from one another in important ways. This workshop is intended to give you some guidance in what to think about when you're comparing seminaries, talking to their admissions representatives at the seminary fair, and trying to figure out how they would prepare you for your vocational goals.
