| The path descends from the Arachova road to the Sanctuary of
Athena Pronaia. Its huge lintel now fallen, a gate once stood
here, leading into the oldest part of the sanctuary where Mycenaean
artifacts have been discovered, indicating inhabitation since prehistoric
times. Here also at the eastern entrance stand the foundations of
ancient altars, most dedicated to Athena. |
